No Stock? No Problem.

I hate it when recipes call for stock.  Part of me feels like the stock will be the only flavor in the soup (or whatever you’re making).  Part of me is angry because I don’t keep stock on hand at home.  What’s to be done when you ain’t got stock?

Improvise 🙂

Use water and a pinch of :

  • turmeric
  • celery seed
  • dill
  • garlic powder
  • coriander
  • ground ginger
  • thyme
  • cayenne pepper
  • bay leaves
  • white pepper
  • parsley
  • carrot/onion/leek
  • barley
  • salt
  • marjoram
  • rosemary
  • lemon/orange peel
  • sage
  • Use bacon fat (instead of oil) to add flavor (if you have it)
